So, what is chip timing?

The IPICO system use a lightweight cost effective Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) timing chip which is attached to the competitors shoe.  This timing chip correlates directly to the runners race number.

How does it work?

Once the runner crosses the start mat their time will be recorded and the same will happen when they cross for the finish.  We will also record the splits times if neccessary.

Gun time or Chip time

Gun time is generally the most important time at most races as this is what most race directors use to judge final positions.  Although, at smaller events chip times can be used if 'waves' arent used to start the race.  Chip times will the individual runner their accurate finsh time.
